Leadership
The following describes the leadership structure of PSC Iowa.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the the governing body of PSC Iowa. The Board of Directors consists of 11 voting members (10 elected members and the Director of Coaching). PSC Senior Staff coaches serve as non-voting members. The Board President serves as the Board of Directors chairperson.
Management Organization
The PSC Management Organization is responsible for conducting the day-to-day operations of PSC and executing the Board of Directors strategic planning initiatives. The President serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PSC's management organization and is responsible for its functions.
The Management Organization is divided into five functional sections each headed by a seperate individual: Administration and Personnel; Operations; Logistics; Business Development; and Finance. Each section head is responsible for the business functions within their purview and reports to the CEO. The section heads are responsible to provide accurate and timely information to the CEO on which major decisions are based. However, section heads are empowered to make decisions within their business function and encouraged to work with other section heads to limit the number of cross-functional decisions that require CEO intervention. The section heads are also responsible to filter information and decision requests to the CEO and shunt unnecessary information so as to assure effective and efficient management.
The functional section heads combined with PSC's legal and risk management advisor make-up the CEO's Management Staff. PSC members are encouraged to bring any pertinent information, questions, or concerns to the appropriate functional section head.
Committees
Committees are the workhorses of PSC. Committees allow members to focus their attention and energy on one organizational concern rather than on every problem and opportunity that comes along. Through committees, the Board and Management Staff are able to distribute their functions and responsibilities equitably among PSC members and thereby maximize effectiveness.
